Tel Aviv is dense, old and close to the sea. That mix brings five main pests. German cockroaches live in kitchens, behind the fridge and in cabinets. American cockroaches — the big ones — come up from sewers, drains and garbage rooms, especially in older buildings. Rats and mice live around garbage rooms, building gardens, storage rooms and basements. Ants march into kitchens and balconies in spring and summer. Bed bugs travel in luggage and used furniture.
In summer, mosquitoes breed in standing water on balconies and in yards, and wasps build nests in shutters. Bed bugs are small, flat, red-brown insects that feed on blood at night. You find them in mattress seams, bed frames and headboards, often with small black dots (droppings) next to them. Bites usually show up in a line or a cluster on the arms, neck or legs.
Bed bugs do not fly or jump, and they do not come from dirt. They arrive on things: a suitcase back from a hotel, hostel or short-term rental, a second-hand sofa or bed frame, or a guest's bag. Tel Aviv has a lot of all three — travellers, short-term rentals and second-hand furniture — so we treat bed bugs here all year round.
Signs to check: bites in the morning, black dots on the mattress seam, shed skins, or a live bug in the bed frame. Found one? Do not spray store-bought products on the bed. It scatters the bugs into walls and furniture and makes the treatment harder. Take a photo and send it to us.

Rat and mouse control in Tel Aviv starts from 460 ₪, with a written warranty. Rats are one of the most common calls we get in the city. Old sewer lines, building gardens, open garbage rooms and construction work push them into yards, storage rooms and ground-floor apartments.
Rat or mouse? A rat is large, with a long thick tail. It digs burrows in gardens and along fences, and travels through sewers and garbage rooms. A mouse is small and lives inside: kitchen cabinets, behind appliances, in false ceilings and storage rooms. The treatment is different, so we identify first.
Signs to check: droppings along walls and in cabinets, chewed food packages or cables, scratching in the ceiling or walls at night, holes in the garden near the building, and a sharp smell in closed rooms.
